Accessibility statement

The standard we build to

This site is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, level AA. The campaign considers the site partially conformant with that standard, which means most of it meets the standard today and the parts that do not are listed below rather than left for you to discover. The site is tested with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, at 200 percent zoom, and against the contrast requirements, and it is retested whenever a page changes.

What we commit to

• Every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, and the focused element always shows a visible outline.
• Every form field has a visible label that stays on screen, and error messages appear next to the field they belong to rather than only at the top.
• Text and background colors meet the contrast requirements, and color is never the only way information is given.
• Headings run in order so a screen reader user can move through a page by structure, and every page has one main heading.
• The layout works down to a 320 pixel wide screen at 200 percent zoom without sideways scrolling.
• Motion is reduced automatically when your device asks for less motion, and nothing on the site flashes.
• Images that carry meaning have text descriptions, and images that are decoration are hidden from screen readers instead of being announced.

What is not finished yet

• Some photographs on the site are still placeholders. Their final descriptions will be written when the real photographs are added.
• Video and audio added later in the campaign will be captioned before it is published. If you find an uncaptioned clip, tell us and we will caption it or send you a transcript.
• Documents the campaign links to from other organizations, such as a city agenda or a filing, are outside the campaign's control and may not meet this standard. Ask us and we will read one to you or send its contents in an accessible format.

If something does not work

Write to scott@rendleman4boulder.com and tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what happened. It helps if you can say what device or assistive technology you were using, but you do not need to. We answer within two business days, we give you the information another way while the problem is being fixed, and we tell you when the fix is live.

Ways we can give you the same information

• A large print version of any page or handout.
• A plain text or audio version of campaign material.
• An ASL interpreter or a captioner at a campaign event, given at least five business days' notice when possible.
• A ride to a campaign event for a resident who cannot otherwise get there.
• Help completing any form on this site over the phone or in person, including the yard sign, volunteer, and contribution forms.

Events and printed material

Campaign events are held in venues with step-free entry, accessible restrooms, and seating that a wheelchair user can reach. Each event listing says where accessible parking and the step-free entrance are. If a venue turns out not to meet that bar, the campaign moves the event.

If we do not fix it

If you write to us about a barrier and are not satisfied with the answer, say so and the message goes to Scott directly. Nothing in this statement limits any right you have under the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, or Colorado law, including the state's accessibility requirements for public-facing digital material.
